The New York Vendée is the second leg of the transatlantic classic Transat CIC race, which Boris Herrmann finished in second place at the beginning of May. After successfully competing in this highly competitive race, the renowned yachtsman now intends to bolster his performance in the coming week and finish among the front runners in Les Sables d’Olonne.
The intensive training and numerous solo nautical miles in race mode will help him to optimally prepare for the Vendée Globe. The solo circumnavigation, which takes several months, is the racing highlight of the season. For the 30 IMOCA competitors, the New York Vendée is the last opportunity to compete against each other in advance of the big race.
The New York Vendée starts on 29 May at 14:00 local time in New York (20:00 CEST). The sailors are expected to arrive in Les Sables d’Olonne at some time between 7 and 9 June.
