MALIZIA 4

With “Malizia 4”, Team Malizia is opening a new chapter in offshore sailing. After two years of development and construction, the new IMOCA racing yacht was launched in Lorient in July 2026. SCHÜTZ is once again on board as technical partner and material supplier. This continues our successful collaboration with Boris Herrmann’s IMOCA sailing team, which began in 2021.

SCHÜTZ has a long-standing connection with sailing: our own successful “CONTAINER” racing yachts were also constructed to a significant extent using our self-developed lightweight material CORMASTER®.

As with the “Malizia – Seaexplorer”, our lightweight CORMASTER® material is also used in the new “Malizia 4”. 100% of the honeycomb material installed in the new boat comes from SCHÜTZ COMPOSITES and is used in the deck and hull. The modern sandwich construction combines exceptionally low weight with high stability and resilience – key properties for a racing yacht that has to withstand enormous loads on the open sea. In this way, our many years of expertise in high-performance composite materials are once again incorporated directly into the construction of an IMOCA racing yacht.

“Malizia 4” has been consistently designed for versatility. Its narrower, flatter hull and significantly reduced rocker – the curvature between bow and stern – are intended to combine high speed downwind with strong performance upwind and in light-wind conditions. With the new yacht, Team Malizia is setting its sights on major challenges including The Ocean Race 2027 and the Vendée Globe 2028. At the same time, our partnership with Team Malizia has been extended for a further five years: SCHÜTZ will remain the team’s Official Supplier and Technical Partner until 2030.

Launched as “Gitana 16”, the “Seaexplorer – Yacht Club de Monaco”, also known as “Malizia II”, was sailed by Boris Herrmann as skipper from 2017 and competed in the 2020/21 Vendée Globe. The “Malizia – Seaexplorer”, also known as Malizia 3, followed in 2022. Since July 2026, Team Malizia’s latest IMOCA racing yacht, the “Malizia 4”, has been on the water.

HIGH PERFORMANCE YACHT WITH CORMASTER®

The foils develop an upward force of fifty to sixty kN and can lift almost the entire hull out of the water, thus reducing frictional resistance with the water to a minimum. Top speeds of up to 40 knots (74 km/h) can already be achieved at 25 knots wind speed, making the boat one of the fastest in its class.
